Meeting in Madonna di Campiglio at 7.30 a.m. and transfer by car to the Tonale pass (about 45 minutes). Using the ski lifts we soon reach the Presena pass (3000 metres) with an incredible view over the whole Adamello group.
After putting on our skis, we leave the ski station and descend to Mandrone refuge (2450 m) in the heart of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park. After a short stop, we put on our skins and head uphill towards Pisganino pass or Valletta pass (Pisgana), depending on which option we choose:
The first option, Pisganino, is quicker and less tiring, and allows us to reach Pisgana pass at an altitude of 2928 metres (about 2 hrs uphill) with only 400 metres of positive height difference and to complete a rewarding itinerary and a long and exciting descent to Ponte di Legno.
The second option, Pisgana, involves the ascent to Valletta pass at an altitude of 3194 metres, with the exciting crossing of the Pian di Neve glacier; the view is priceless and only now you realize the extent of the majestic glacier. The proposed excursion is therefore longer and physically more demanding (about 600 metres of positive height difference, about 3.5 hours of climbing). Also in this case the long and exciting descent along the Pisgana glacier will lead us to Ponte di Legno.
Once we have reached the village of Ponte di Legno, we will take the cable car to the Tonale Pass.
We return to Madonna di Campiglio between 5 and 6 pm.
